I’ve been hearing about how the “green economy” is bringing all these jobs to Colorado -- although a lot of folks still seem to be out of work, which probably makes them blue.
So, my ears perked up when I heard about the Colorado Green Career Resources Fair being held this weekend at Arapahoe Community College. It's being organized by Arapahoe Community College, Blue Sky Colorado, the Colorado Renewable Energy Soeicty (CRES) and the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce.
“We want people to bring their resumes,” says Vicki Befort (rhymes with effort), energy technologies coordinator for Arapahoe Community College and one of the organizers of the event. “We’ve got a career resource center where we will have career counselors making appointments and taking a look at your resume.” And there will be a workshop on how to “green” your resume, she adds.
There also will be workshops on how to turn your job skills into a green career, why green business is good business and other topics.
At least 20 to 30 companies will be on hand to answer questions about jobs skills they’re looking for and job opportunities, if they have openings. And there will be a jobs board listing green job openings throughout Colorado.
“Come prepared with questions,” Befort suggests. “And network. This would also be a really good networking opportunity.”
The career fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (October 23) at Arapahoe Community College, Room M1900 on the Main Campus. Call 303-956-9924 for more information.
